A little bit about me and other stuff

This site came to life in 2002. It started as a very small Tori site with a shitty layout. I absolutely knew nothing about HTML or web design. I pretty much made it a copy of HIMH when it came to contents. It wasn't original at all. My internet and web design skills started to improve though and after four years it has turned into this little icon site. I'd love to spend more time here, add more stuff that no other site has, but it takes time and patience, and the latter I hardly have, haha.
Anyway...I thought I'd use this part of the site to tell you a little bit about myself. Not that it is that fascinating or anything, but I know that I myself always like to read about other people and their interests.

A little survey

Name: Nancy
Date of birth: March 13th 1979
Hair color: dark blonde (actually...it's got no defined color, lol)
Eye color: green/grey/blue
Level of education: I've been trained to become a primary school teacher
Occupation: Primary school teacher
Favorite drinks: tea...I'll drink just about any kind of tea, cappuccino...instand, authentic Italian, whatever, I'll drink it, café latte...again, instant, authentic, I'll drink it, water and all kinds of juices.

Favorite food: I like salads a lot, salads of all kind actually. They're easy to prepare and they go with just about everything. Pasta is always good too!
Favorite artist: well, duh...Tori of course!!!
Favorite album: I guess it will forever and always be Boys for Pele, but From The Choirgirl Hotel is a close second.
Favorite song: I'm still in love with Beauty Queen/Horses, that song it just gorgeous. I also love Icicle, Baker Baker, Cloud on my tongue, Spacedog, Caught A Lite Sneeze, Purple People, Garlands and...well...I guess it's better to ask which songs I don't like, hahaha. There's just too many I love!
Favorite books: My favorite book is The Neverending Story by Michael Ende. I think I've read this book about 10 times now and I can't ever get enough of this book. Just pure brilliance! Then also everything by Nicci French because they're very haunting books and very well written, all the Harry Potter books because I love magic and I love the dreamworld she (J. K. Rowling) created, The DaVinci code because I love the whole Mary Magdalene story, The Witches because I just love this book and I love Roald Dahl, Sophie's World because it introduced me to philosophy and because it's just a wonderful book and also The Discovery of Heaven, cause the story is amazingly wonderful.
Favorite movies: LOTR trilogy (I mean...Aragorn is just to die for of course...but the story itself is just great as well), Rabbit Proof Fence (go watch it, please, it's one of those movies that had a huge impact on me), I Am Sam (it's such a sweet, sad movie. I love it), Amélie (cutest, most adorable movie I've ever seen), A Few Good Men (I just love this movie and the way it's been build up), Finding Nemo (how can you not love this movie?), Ice Age (this movie is just hilarious with those stupid animals...hahaha), Contact (one of my absolute favorites. I often watch the intro over and over again. It's such a fascinating movie and I love everything that's got to do with the universe), The Color Purple (I saw this movie for the first time in 1993 or 1994 and was deeply moved. I still am these days), The Pianist (again, a beautiful movie. A must see!), Schindler's List (have watched it over 20 times and I still get goosebumps when I watch it. The fact that it's a real story is just heartbreaking, still), Shawshank Redemption (I felt pretty numb after finishing the movie...wonderful, beautiful story!), Erin Brockovich ( I just LOVE this movie. I just do!), As Good As It Gets (this movie is hilarious to watch...such a feel good movie), The Mexican (this is an absurd movie, but that's why I love it so much. It really has some great parts in it.), The Green Mile (when I first watched this movie I was seriously touched, even though at first I thought I wouldn't like the movie at all.), Cast Away (there's something about the movie that I just totally love. Maybe the whole "desserted island" thing.) and A Beautiful Mind (I didn't expect the movie to go into the direction it did. Wow).
Favorite TV shows: I love to watch just about every show on Discovery Channel, Mythbusters has to be my favorite show on there! It's hilarious and so much fun to watch! National Geographic Channel is also lovely to watch. Oh! And then along came Prison Break in 2006. I'm addicted to this TV show, for real. Holy shit, what the fuck it's fantasticly brilliant! And of course there's also the pure brilliance of Judging Amy and House.
Favorite memory: I guess that will have to be my time in Ireland. In 2002, after I finished school, I decided I needed a change. I didn't want to get a job right away, I first needed some time for myself. After giving it a lot of thoughts and with a little support from other people, I decided to go to Ireland all on my own for three months. I saved up enough money to just travel around, enjoy the scenery and do nothing else. It's been one of the best experiences ever. I love Ireland, the country is so diverse and gorgeous. And the people are often just so friendly and full of stories. I've learned a lot about myself there, and even though I suffered from homesickeness, I had the best time there. I especially love Killarney's National Park, where I could wander around without meeting anyone. I've spent many, many precious times there and wrote a whole lot of thoughts down. Galway is my second home. I've spent about 3 weeks there, but not in one row. I just always returned to that place. Galway is a city of it's own, with wonderful colors and people. I'd love to go back there again one day.
Dreams: My dream, that I've had since I was about 10 years old and watched The Flying Doctors on tv, is to bring a visit to Australia. I've seen so many pictures and videos of that country and I just have to go there one day. It's so expensive though, so it may not be for a couple of years that I will go there.
Other stuff: I'm in love with spring and summer. Just the fact that things warm up and come to life again make me so much happier. Autumn and winter are two seasons I pretty much dislike. Although I don't really like the heat, I absolutely hate the cold. It hurts my body so much and I hardly ever warm up enough. The one thing I do like about winter is Christmas, cause I burn shitloads of candles and incense and it just feels nice and comfy.
I'm a dreamer...I dream 24/7. It's my escape from this planet. I spend more time in my imaginary world, than I spend here on earth. Sometimes I write down my dreams, they become stories or poems.
I love color. My favorite color is red. I have a bright red wall in my living room. My clothes are full of colors as well, cause they make me feel alive. The brighter the colors, the better.
I'm a very spiritual person who loves to philosophize about life and herself. I always wonder why things are the way they are and why things happen the way they happen. I always wonder what it is I can do about it. In Ireland I learned to trust on my own intuition, and it helped me to become a happier person. If things are meant to be, they are meant to be and if not, then something else will come along.

How was this site created?

I'm not a HTML goddess at all, if you find anything on here that looks a bit fancy schmancy: that's because I'm very good at looking up source codes on other sites and use bits and pieces of it, lol.

Anyway...these are a few programs and sites I've used for creating this site:

- My precious Imac!!! Love it, love it, love it and can't live without it, at all!!!!!
- Photoshop CS. Used it a lot, used it for the top banner, used it for my pics, icons, animated gifs etc...etc...A great, great program!!!
- Dreamweaver. After using Adobe Pagemill for quite some time (it came for free with my old mac), I tried to use GoLive for a little while, but most of the time it sorta crashed my computer. Now I used Dreamweaver for the first time and I have to say: it's quite nice!
- Here in my head. This site is just so fantastic, pics used on this site, came from that wonderful place!

- loads of free time, some wine, some cookies and of course, Tori as the big inspiration!

I'd like to state that in no way I'm making any profit with this website. This is just pure fun. I do not own any of these images, nor do I claim them to be my own. If I happen to have used a picture you own copyright of and you want me to take it off, or at least give you full credit for it, you can send me an email twinklewitch@xs4all.nl and I will make sure you'll be credited or I'll take the pictures off.
